How Walking Became My Favorite Form of Exercise and Why It Works

I used to think a workout didn’t count unless I was drenched in sweat and completely exhausted by the end. But over time, especially on busy or low-energy days, I started going on walks just to clear my head—and something changed. I realized that walking wasn’t just a backup option; it was a genuinely effective and underrated form of exercise.

What started as a 10-minute walk around the block turned into a daily habit. I began noticing how much better I felt mentally and physically after getting outside and moving. It helped with stress, gave me a burst of energy, and made me feel more consistent with my fitness routine overall. On days I didn’t feel up to a full workout, walking kept me active without burning me out.

I used to underestimate it, but now I treat walking like any other part of my fitness plan. Some days I walk fast and get my heart rate up; other days it’s slower and more meditative. It’s flexible, easy to start, and something I actually look forward to. Over time, it’s helped improve my endurance and keep me moving even when motivation is low.
